C-Tech would like to thank all of the participants from our Beta Test at Orange Ulster BOCES.  Earlier this month C-Tech’s Curriculum Director and Operations Manager took a trip to Goshen New York and met with the class of certified C-Tech instructor Patrick Killian.  Patrick first started teaching C-Tech courses in November of 2009 and since then has successfully certified 256 students.  Pat’s students assisted C-Tech in testing and evaluating several activities for an advanced certification program to be unveiled this fall.

To start, students were given instruction of proper tool use and tool safety.  The drilling workstation seen in these pictures will give students hands-on experience mounting equipment on different substrates including, concrete, drywall & plywood.  Students used a mounting template and level before drilling to ensure mounting brackets are properly placed.  Once the brackets were in place, students attached various antennas and wireless devices and then positioned them for optimal signal strength. One student, whom had never used a power tool in her life was invigorated by the experience, and commented that she was going home to help her father properly install their TV.

C-Tech is dedicated to bringing students the programs they need to gain hands-on experience and secure employment in growing technology fields.  Keep an eye out for additional updates on C-Tech’s new certification course coming soon!
