With over 150 correctional institutions offering C-Tech’s Industry Recognized Certification Courses to reentry students, C-Tech Associates, Inc. is quite familiar with the growing demand to provide career pathways to returning citizens.  This month we are supporting our correctional education partners by presenting information on recidivism reduction at three conference events.

C-Tech kicked off May at the Massachusetts Correctional Education Association Conference in Milford, Massachusetts.  We were there to assist local jails with their need to infuse Career and Technical Education Courses into their Re-Entry Services.  The Essex County Sheriff’s Department, one of C-Tech’s Certified Training Facilities, asked us to participate in a presentation to showcase the success they are having with the C-Tech Programs.  Through a partnership with Volunteers of America, Essex County Sheriff’s Department began offering C-Tech Programs in June 2017.  Since the programs were implemented, 184 students have achieved their certifications, of the 44 returning citizens that have been released, over 40% of them have found employment utilizing C-Tech’s training.

Last week C-Tech presented at the New York State Association of Incarcerated Education Programs (NYSAIEP) in Saratoga Springs, NY.  NYSAIEP supports and promotes excellence in incarcerated education programs and develops collaborations with professional organizations to tackle specific initiatives.  C-Tech was there supporting our BOCES customer base.  C-Tech Programs are a perfect fit for the BOCES of New York State, because of the programs adaptability and flexibility.  Each program can be utilizing for correctional education, adult education & career and technical education.

We will be wrapping of this month of correctional education conferences with the Region 1 Correctional Education Association Conference in Lancaster Pennsylvania, May 30th – June 1st.  The CEA Region 1 Conference brings together adult and juvenile correctional educators from Pennsylvania, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New York, New Jersey as well as several Canadian Provinces.  If you will be attending, stop by the C-Tech booth and experience how we are preparing returning citizens for the workforce and reducing recidivism.  Hope to see you there!
